Kentucky Regional Tour Provides Valuable Listening, Learning Opportunity

On November 9-10, about 50 Central Kentucky business and education leaders participated in the third annual Kentucky Regional Tour presented by Community Trust Bank. This two-day bus tour took the group to Winchester, Mt. Sterling, Morehead, Ashland, Maysville, and Paris.

The simple gesture of putting our feet on the ground in another community to learn more about their successes and challenges sends a powerful message and one that Commerce Lexington Inc. has benefitted greatly from, especially within the State Legislature. The people are extremely happy to talk about their communities and tell us how we can help them succeed.

This year’s tour took the delegation to portions of Northeast Kentucky, mostly along the I-64 corridor. The group began the trip at the Ale-8-One bottling plant in Winchester, and then headed to the Gateway Regional Arts Center in Mt. Sterling.

Later at Morehead State University, the group experienced some phenomenal facilities like the Space Science Center, the Recreation and Wellness Center, and the Center for Health, Education & Research. Day one wrapped up with a reception and dinner in Ashland.

Day two featured a panel discussion at the Paramount Arts Center in Ashland, lunch at Caproni’s Restaurant and a visit to EKPC’s Spurlock Power Station in Maysville, before finishing up at legendary Claiborne Farm in Paris.
